Nightclubs and bars in Old Town

Modern Swindon came together from two distinct areas, Old Town and New Town (the latter also referred to as Down Town). Until recently Old Town held the lion's share of late night bars and clubs with New Town associated with quieter pubs and eateries but now the choice is more evenly spread between both districts.

The bars and clubs in Old Town are centred around High Street, Devizes Road and Wood Street, with SUJU at 21 High Street offering an eclectic mix of R'n'B, house, dubstep and Indie tunes played across a main room, chill lounge and garden.

If the thought of relaxing with a cocktail while enjoying jazz tunes or live music appeals then The Vic, situated on Wood Street, plays host to a varied calendar of events enjoyed by a loyal fanbase.

Mackenzies is a modern, well-lit cafe bar with an extensive menu and a constantly updated list of promotions and special offers that make for the ideal pre-club meeting place. Elsewhere Longs Bar, The Hop Inn and The Old Bank provide great atmosphere and traditional ales (along with modern cocktails) in classic pub settings.

New Town (Down Town)

Swindon's New Town area has a rich and diverse nightlife experience with many bars, restaurants and clubs tightly packed into three or four streets in the centre of town.

Bushwackers and Sin (2-4 Fleet Street) is a popular combined bar and club complex with a packed schedule of theme nights that have previously featured cast members from TOWIE and Made In Chelsea along with many top name DJs. Sir Daniel Arms, found further along Fleet Street, is a JD Wetherspoon pub and as such caters for revellers looking for food and drink on a budget and Boston Brothers Bar is a well stocked establishment with premium cocktails, pitchers, mojitos and wines enjoyed by the big crowds on Friday and Saturday nights.

Shopping Trips!

Of course, a day or night out doesn't necessarily need to include lots of drinks and dancing! If 'shop til you drop' is a part of your party gameplan, Swindon boasts no shortage of major chain stores and quirky independent shops.

Enjoying something of a renaissance Swindon's reputation as a shopping destination is on an upward curve thanks largely to the Designer Outlet development that opened in a restored railway works in 1997. With more than 80 shops and brands to choose from including Ghost, Superdry, Gap and Jigsaw, its the ideal place to go for anyone seeking a day of retail therapy!

Well known brands such as Debenhams, BHS, Deichmann and River Island can also be found in The Parade and The Brunel features high street names including Beaverbrooks, Pandora, M&S and Warehouse.
